Wat Pho

Wat Pho, one of the oldest wats in Bangkok, is known for the 46m reclining Buddha. It was first constructed in the 18th century by King Rama I and underwent a series of expansions and renovations by the subsequent kings.

Pit stop on the 3km walk from the metro.

The photos don't show the full scale and intricacies of the stupas and chedis. It also started to sprinkle; thankfully it didn't pour!

You can see the sheer size - look at the door!

Mother of pearl - 108 segments depicting the lakshanas or characteristics of the Buddha

Definitely worth a visit, especially as it was quite cheap (100 baht) compared to the Grand Palace (500 baht).
